It is expected that the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) will confirm mid-2024 as the new deadline for the standstill period during which CE-marked devices may access the UK market and thus compulsory UKCA marking would also be held up by a year.

In October the MHRA clarified in an open letter its plan to extend the standstill period to 30 June 2024 to give the regulator adequate time to fully develop the new legislation and safeguard support system readiness.
