CEN and CENELEC have adopted an exceptional package of measures to speed delivery of key European standards supporting the AI Act, committing to make the technical foundation available by Q4 2026. To do so they will (a) permit direct publication of drafts after a positive Enquiry vote (skipping a separate Formal Vote) and (b) set up a small expert drafting group to finalise six delayed drafts before wider circulation. The move preserves inclusiveness—Enquiry remains open to national members and stakeholders—and signals priority workstreams such as the forthcoming prEN 18286 on Quality Management Systems.
